It’ll be interesting to see and read the reactions to WVU’s big win over Virginia Tech. I have a feeling that the detractors will be conspicuously quiet for a few days.
I think J.T. Daniels, the quarterback transfer from Georgia, will do well if he can stay healthy. It was an injury which cost him his starting job down there.
I double checked and found out that he went through the transfer portal twice. That’s one of the drawbacks to having a portal: teams recruiting talent for the future losing that talent to logjams at positions.
Had Daniels not transferred, it would have been highly likely he’d be competing with Stetson Bennett for the starting job at Georgia. That’s the way Kirby Smart likes to do things, national title or no.
The team has a promising running back in C.J. Donaldson and a defense which smothered Towson State and Virginia Tech.
They face a big test at Texas Saturday as the Longhorns are ranked 22nd in the polls.
As for Concord, they have Homecoming coming up with Fairmont State University being the opponent.
In the Mountain East Conference , especially where CU is involved, you never know what you will see. This year’s edition, not counting the Frostburg State game, which is being played as of this writing, rallied to beat Emory & Henry, had enough offense to beat Glenville State and needed two key defensive plays to beat West Virginia Wesleyan.
Concord has a lot of strengths. It’s an experienced team at quarterback (Jack Mangel), offensive line, and defense and there are four running backs, one who also gets time at wide receiver, and several good receivers. It’s also well-coached.
There are a few concerns. The team has had to rely on late-game defensive heroics to win twice. Injuries to Mangel and on the lines might change the team’s outlook.
To be honest, it’s a crazy season this far on all levels of football.
