I know that I’m not the only person who is tired of the constant hype about Tom Brady’s return to New England a.k.a. the Patriots vs. the Buccaneers. I’m just glad the game has been played.
I have a bad knack of jinxing teams which I either write well about or predict to win. This time, my “victim” seems to be WVU, which suffered another narrow loss in the Big 12, this time to Texas Tech. Fans are grumbling about Neal Brown and really wanting Jarrett Doege gone. Careful what you wish for, you might get worse than you asked.
With the first sentence of my last paragraph in mind, I must say that Princeton is performing very well. They went up to Jerome VanMeter Field in Beckley and pulled out a win to go 4-0 on the season.
They have one of the best offenses for a PSHS team which I have seen in a long time, a good combination of passing and power running.
Remember, I praised Princeton. I definitely want them to play well. I didn’t graduate from there but I had plenty of friends who did, including my former boss. Can you imagine what it would be like for the football team to win a state title?
The closest I have to an alma mater is PikeView High School and things aren’t going very well on the field.
As for Bluefield, things have been quiet. If I’m not mistaken, the Princeton game is the only one they’ve played due to COVID-19 protocols. I think they have Graham this week.
Montcalm is 2-2 to date. Their tendencies are to either win big or lose big. They still have a chance to put together a playoff season with a bit more consistency.
As for Concord, they continued their trend of roller-coaster games by losing 31-27 to Fairmont State. I may have more to write about this elsewhere. They were another one of my “victims” as I wrote well about them earlier.
By well, I mean I wrote optimistically about them.
