PRINCETON — One local business is offering both a welcoming atmosphere and a primitive paradise to all who enter.

The Country Willow, located on Thorn Street near the Grants Crossroads, carries a plethora of items for many different tastes of decor. From wax melts, furniture, signage and more, the store holds a variety of items.

“We have such a variety of things. We didn’t want to be another copy cat store with thousands of one item. We have two or three of one item with thousands of things,” owner Ronald Dowell said.

Dowell and his wife first started the business after a great tragedy in an attempt to keep themselves busy. Since its opening, the business has blossomed. According to Dowell, the store sees some customers visit weekly.

With owning a small business comes the perks of knowing all customers personally. This aspect of small business is Dowell’s favorite as he has built lasting friendships.

“My favorite part is meeting the people and all the people I get to talk to since owning this business. I have made so many friends and a lot of them feel like family,” Dowell said.

Along with their wide selection, the business prides itself on its affordable prices of unique items.

“Our prices are our big draw to the store. We hear from everybody that they can’t find a price as low as ours. We have everything from primitives, country quilts, home decor, furniture, craft supplies, and locally made wax melts,” Dowell said.

Having been open for five years the business offers annual sales as well. This includes Black Friday, November 29, and Small Business Saturday, November 30.

“Our Black Friday and Small Business Saturday sales are huge. This little store will see hundreds and hundreds of people. We have huge sales and giveaways both days,” Dowell said.

Dowell expressed the importance of supporting small businesses. While it supplies jobs it also aids in the local economy.

“You should always support local business because your money stays here and your investment is here in your community. If you spend your money here, we’re going to spend it right back here locally,” Dowell said.

Those interested in visiting The Country Willow can do so Monday through Friday from 10 to 5 or Saturday from 10 to 2. The store is preparing to open for extended hours during the holiday season Dowell said.
