ATHENS — For the past three years, Staci Ball Burton has been doing her craft of hairstyling as part of Sue’s Perfect Image just outside of Athens (5800 Athens Road). That was until recently when, after months of preparation, she relocated her business to 114 Vermillion Street in order to have more room. To reflect the new locations, she also changed the name to Perfect Image Salon.
“The business first opened up in 1988 (by Burton’s aunt, Sue Smithson) and was located besides the Deli-Mart before it moved across the road,” Burton said.
When asked about what her motivation was for her profession, she said, “I wanted to be a hairstylist every since I was in high school and I went to cosmetology school to learn hairstyling. I’ve been doing this for 18 years and I’ve had clients whom I’ve been serving for those 18 years.”
When it comes to services, Perfect Image Salon offers the best to their clientele and is looking to expand what they bring to the Athens area. According to Burton, “We do perms, coloring and razor cuts, airbrush make-up, and ear piercing. Soon we’ll have tanning beds here.”
The new location, she said, gives her more room to operate and to expand her staff. “We’re looking to add nail techs and a massage therapist,’ she said.
In addition to having 18 years experience as a hair stylist, Burton is also a certified master colorist and is looking forward to introducing the area to Perfect Image Salon’s new look, “We want to create a welcoming atmosphere here for our customers,” she said.
The business will have a grand opening tomorrow with vendors and free coffee and doughnuts.
Burton is very accommodating to her clients, so hours are set by appointment, “If somebody calls me, I’ll come in as early as they want or as late as they want. Walk-ins are welcome.”
She added, “I’m offering college students a 10 percent discount on hair services with a valid college ID.”
The phone numbers are 304-384-7900 and 304-308-2367. The business is located across the street from the Athens Post Office, and is open Monday - Friday.
In addition to hairstyling services, the building is available for occasions such as children’s birthday parties, baby showers and other receptions.
