PRINCETON — A local business is welcoming guests to an interactive puzzle experience.

Out of the Box Room Escape offers a variety of themes in their escape room experiences. From legendary magicians, pirates and more the business allows guests to solve the puzzling rooms hands-on before time runs out.

Prior to acquiring the business, Jamie Crews and her family enjoyed visiting the escape rooms. Now as the owner she seeks to offer her guests the same experience.

“It’s a lot of family fun. It’s great for offices and businesses to come and do team building just to see how everybody works together. It’s something to do indoors when it’s raining, something to do in the wintertime,” Crews said.

The objective of the rooms is for the guests to solve the entirety of the puzzle, once the puzzle is complete they can “escape” from the room. A time limit on completion adds to the challenge of the rooms.

“This is a real-life action game,” Crews said.

During the experience, guests are given a walkie talkie where they can communicate with Jamie if need be. Guests are also not locked in the room for their own safety. The solvers are also monitored on computer monitors in case the walkie talkies are malfunctioning according to Crews.

Crews has had a variety of groups book a room to solve from family reunions, businesses and more. This allows the guests to have a unique group experience while bonding.

“We’ve had people in there from 5 years old to 85 years old. It’s for all ages,” Crews said.

Crews believe that if local opportunities aren’t utilized then they may not be available for long, she also believes in supporting local businesses.

“When you do something local someone is clapping their hands and dancing. They’re happy because they’ve got business coming to them to support them. I think it’s important to support people in the community and do things in the community to keep them here,” Crews said.

As the business is open by reservation only guests must reserve their room ahead of time. Out of the Box Room Escape is closed on Monday and Tuesday but will open for reservation on these days for a party of four or more, Crews said.

Business hours are from 6:45 to 9 on Wednesday, 5:30 to nine on Thursday and Friday, 3:45 to 10 on Saturday and 4:15 to 9 on Sunday.
