BLUEFIELD — Remember Mitchell Stadium? Get those voting fingers ready to elect another Bluefield winner!! The Wade Center has been selected by State Farm as one of 200 national finalists for a $25,000 Neighborhood Assist Grant. The final 40 winners will be selected by online voting by their communities.
State Farm Neighborhood Assist funds projects involved in education, safety, and community development. Local agents Brandon Disney of Bluefield, and April Lusk in Bland County, Va., are helping The Wade Center promote its project.
The Wade Center has proposed a production entitled, The Wade Neighborhood. Professional artists will draw out the stories of children in our after-school program and show how to depict them in various forms, including an image for their unique T shirt costume. The students will gain a sense of dignity and self-worth, art skills and teamwork experience. In the final video product, each will tell a story, perform a song or express “This is me” in his or her own way. Each child’s need to be seen and appreciated will be met while working together on a large project with others.
Individuals 18 or older with a valid email address can vote up to 10 times a day starting at 12:01 am on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at https://www.neighborhoodassist.com/entry/2033687.
