Frederick W. Snider Jr.

Born March 1, 1936 in Princeton he was the son of the late Frederick Snider, Sr. and Thelma Neeley Snider.

He was of the Methodist faith.  He received his Bachelors Degree from Virginia Tech and attended UCLA for his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering then attended Suny Binghamton New York for his Masters Degree in Computer Science.  He worked for IBM in New York then became a consultant across the United States.  He worked with wireless phones in the United States and China and was the first to introduce “call waiting” to China in the mid 1980s.  He designed and built the house he lived in for 37 years in New York.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Moose Lodge.  He liked cars, family genealogy and was a “jack of all trades.”  He was organizing his Princeton High School Class of 1954 Reunion at the time of his death.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Snider and one nephew, Russell George.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Eileen Fryover Snider; five daughters, Heather Snider and fiancé Michael Mingo of Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. Erica Thammavong and husband Dr. Roulay Thammavong of Franklin, OH, Rebecca Snider of Syracuse, NY, Phyllis Kroeger and husband John of Phoenix, AZ and Sandra Michel of Raleigh, NC; one brother, David Snider and wife Audrey of Burlington, NC; two sisters, Dorothy George Wilkerson and husband Scott of Princeton and Lois Ann Snider of Raleigh, NC; seven grandchildren and another expected soon, Noah, Max, Zuria and Isaiah Thammavong, Rachael, Claire and Lillian Kroeger; four nieces, Deborah Minor, Melinda Hazelwood, Patricia Bouzigard and Wendy Snider; one nephew, Cassidy Snider and many other extended family members.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at First Christian Church, 805 Straley Avenue, Princeton with Rev. William Pollack officiating.  The body has been cremated.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the memorial fund at First Christian Church, 805 Straley Avenue, Princeton, WV  24740.
