Delmas Eugene (Gene) Addair

CEDAR BLUFF, Va. — Delmas Eugene (Gene) Addair, age 79, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Born March 3, 1934 at Atwell, West Virginia he was the son of the late Arber and Chloe Addair.

He was a retired coal miner, having installed the first longwall system in the state of Virginia in 1967 at Beatrice Mine, and was a member of U.M.W.A. Gene could fix anything. He was a member of New Hope Assembly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Addair; and several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by three sons, Nelson Addair and wife Joyce of Bristol, VA, Terry Addair and wife Vonda of Lenoir, NC and Joey Addair and wife Lynn of Tampa, FL; one daughter, Veronica Bowman and husband Todd of Bradshaw, WV; three stepdaughters, Sharon Wilt and husband Bill of Jacksonville, FL, Tonnie Dales and husband Grover of Grundy, VA and Joyce Ratliff and husband Randy of Pounding Mill, VA; one stepson, Robert Owens and wife Brenda of Pounding Mill, VA; four sisters, Lorene Henthorne and husband Tim of Charleston, WV, Molly Mullins and husband Vester of Paynesville, WV, Pearlie Atwell and husband Noah of Mooresville, NC and Macie Gross and husband Tommy of Raysal, WV; four brothers, Johnny Reed and wife Christine of Wytheville, VA, Robert Reed and wife Denna of Princeton, WV, Linsey Reed and wife Cathy of Iaeger, WV and Roger Reed of Raysal, WV; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Virginia with the Rev. David Horton officiating. Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 P.M. Friday at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
