PikeView Middle students mourn loss of health teacher

GARDNER —  A PikeView Middle School teacher and Princeton Senior High School football assistant coach has died.

Mercer County Board of Education Superintendent Deborah Akers confirmed Sam White, 35, a health teacher at PikeView Middle School, had passed away during Thursday’s overnight hours.

No information was immediately available about the cause of White’s death.

Akers’ office confirmed grief counselors were sent to PikeView Middle School to help the students mourn White’s loss and have been on the property during the whole school day.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family,” Akers said. “I can say that Mr. White was highly regarded as a health teacher at PikeView Middle School.”

Akers said White also touched lives in a variety of coaching assignments in Mercer County. In addition to Princeton Senior High School, White served as a baseball and football coach at PikeView High School.
